101st, 509th Airborne in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm 

C Co 509th Pfdrs

A 5 man Pathfinder team was attached to the 229th AHB, 101st Airborne Division.  They conducted slingloads, LZ/PZ, FAARP and search and rescue. They worked closely with the

2-17 Cav Pathfinders.  During a search and rescue mission 3 Pathfinders were shot down.  Two were killed in action and one was a POW sustaining a 60 percent casualty rate.
